Explanation of Batch Numbers

A----

The source is an LDS temple sealing record The "Input Source" column gives the microfilm number of the temple record. This microfilm is available only in Special Collections in the Family History Library, on a limited basis.
C----

The source is a birth or christening record extracted from a primary source in the LDS record extraction program. A birth record may list names of parents; a christening record may list birth and christening dates, names of parents, and witnesses or family members, and the father's occupation.
D----

These batch numbers appear only on the patron Notification previously created by the Family History Department and are always associated with another batch number. Look up the accompanying batch number in this index to find the source.
E ----

The source is a marriage record extracted in the LDS record extraction program. Because christening records usually do not exist for individuals listed in the earliest marriage records, the marriage date identifies the bride and groom for LDS temple ordinances of baptism and endowment. To find the call number for the marriage record, look under M-- for batch E038951 look under batch number M036951.
F----

The source is a family group record submitted by an LDS Church member. The F batch number indicates that one or more names on the record was processed by another system. (An all-digit batch number indicates standard regular processing.)
H----

The source is an LDS Church membership record of a deceased individual. "Deceased member records" have been microfilmed, but cannot be photocopied (and Family History Department staff cannot transcribe information from them). Microfilms are at the US and Canada Collection. Married women are listed by their married surnames in the films, even though they are in the IGI under their maiden surnames.
J----

The source is a birth or christening record extracted in the LDS record extraction program. See instructions for C batch numbers.
K----

L----

The source is a temple-originated record (TOR) for temples that use the automated temple recording system. It contains information on living and deceased persons and access is therefore limited. See also T90.
M ----

You may find parents' names, names of witnesses, birth dates and places, couple's ages, and occupation of the groom or the father. Follow the instructions for Cbatch numbers.
The source is a marriage record extracted in the LDS record extraction program (except M17, M18 batches).
P ----

The source is a birth or christening record extracted in the LDS record extraction program. See the instructions for Cbatch numbers. There may be an additional book or film (indicated by the word "Book" or "Plus" following the input-source call number). You may need to search this additional record to find your entry. You can find the call number on the title page of the Parish and Vital Records Computer Printout.
T ----

The source is a family group record in the Archive Section. There was no death date listed on the record for the individual when it was submitted. The name was added to the IGI after 110 years had elapsed from the birth date (to make sure the person was deceased). See the information for searching the Archive Section.
Several types of batch numbers begin with the letter T, and are taken from a variety of sources: T000001 to T000010 and T000150
The source is the Temple Records Index Bureau (TIB). .
The source is a family group record that contains information about both deceased and living persons. The form was taken directly to an LDS temple by one of the living persons listed on the form, and therefore is known as a "temple-originated record" (TOR). The form is submitted at the temple instead of the Family History Department. Because of rights of privacy of the living persons listed on this record, it can be used only by direct- family members. The "Input Source" number is the call number for the member-submitted form. Microfilmed copies of TOR's are in Special Collections in the Family History Library, but are not circulated to Family History centers. Photocopies of submission forms cannot be obtained with a photo duplication request form.
The source is a form filled out by the Family History Department to correct an existing entry. The "Input Source" number is the call number for the microfilm copy in the US and Canada Collection. If you have questions about the entry, contact the Family History Department.
T990----

The source is usually a form prepared by the Family History Department for names of royalty/nobility. The "Input Source" number is the call number for the microfilm copy in the US and Canada Collection. Forms are filed either numerically by the batch and serial/sheet number (add the serial/sheet number to the end of batch number to make a nine digit number) or alphabetically under the father's or husband's surname. If there is no surname, the record is filed by the highest royalty/nobility title.
The source is a form submitted by LDS Church members. Some LDS ordinances had already been performed for at least one person listed on the form when it was submitted. The "Input Source" number is the microfilm call number for the microfilm copy in the US and Canada Collection. To locate the form, find the batch number, and then add the serial/ sheet number to the end of the batch number to make a nine digit number. Submitted forms are filed numerically by this number.
This source is records processed by Special Services of the LDS Church Temple Department. For more information, see the instructions for SIS
  # The source for most all-digit batch numbers are forms submitted by members of the LDS Church (except 694, 725, 744, 745, 754, and 766). example 8012309.
The source is a form submitted by an LDS Church member to a temple outside the U.S. or Canada. The information is in the submitter's native language. To find the source, use the instructions for all-digit batch numbers.
500----

The source is a patron-submitted form. Use the instructions for F batch numbers to locate it.
The source is names submitted in automated form by members using Personal Ancestral File (PAF) software.
The source is an early ward or branch record of the LDS Church. It has been microfilmed and can be circulated. However, copies of the source cannot be requested with a photo duplication request form (due to the excessive amount of time required to locate an entry on the microfilm). To determine the film number you need, look in the Family History Library Catalog under the locality and the subject heading "Church records." For example: "California, Los Angeles, San Pedro--Church Records, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. San Pedro Ward (California)." However, the place listed in the IGI entry may not be place of birth or the place where the individual or family was attending an LDS conference. therefore, it may not be possible to tell which record to look for.
The source is a card index to early ward and branch records of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, created by Minnie Margetts. You may find parents' names; birthrate and place; date of blessing, baptism, confirmation, and ordination; name of ward; name of stake; and sometimes death date, age, and residence. The microfilms are in the British Collection. Photocopies are not made of these records: the quality of the filming is poor, and photocopies cannot be made readable (the microfilmed cards were destroyed). Names are listed alphabetically by surname. Use the following list to get the film call number.
69407----

The source is a card index to early ward and branch records of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The records are from Scandinavia. You may find parents' names, birth date, birthplace, baptism, confirmation, and sometimes death date or emigration date. There is an index to Scandinavian Mission index now available on microfiche. It is arranged alphabetically by surname. It is on microfiche, FHL call number 6060482 (344 fiche). Films are located in the International Collection. Photo- copies cannot be made of these records.
69409 ----

he source is a family group record in the Archive Section. That record does not show ordinance data for this individual. See the instructions for the Archive Section (p. 2). The Temple Records Index Bureau (TIB) may also contain information. See the instructions for searching the TIB (p. 3).
696----

The source is a Special Services record. See the
information for SIS
725----

The source is an English marriage index compiled by J.S.W. Gibson. You will find no additional information in this index. The computer printout, arranged alphabetically by surname, is on microfilms 543896 (surnames beginning with A through O) and 543897 (P through Z).
744 ----

The source is one of several extraction projects that include births from many places. Extractions from Norway include farm names.
745----

The source is an extracted record from a statewide vital records index. You will find an index card. The "Input Source" number is the call number for the microfilm copy, usually found in the film collection for the place of the event. Entries will be filed numerically by batch and serial/sheet numbers, chronologically by event date, or alphabetically by surname. Most information in these batches is listed in the IGI; there is little additional information. You may find additional and/or more correct information in the actual town or parish record from which the statewide index was made. Use the Family History Library Catalog to locate this record.
754 ----

766 ----
